Bearing Its Own Weight (2026)

A late-19th century Japanese indigo-dyed hemp domestic cloth, heavily used and worn, its original repairs failing but still in place. Collars taken from the artist's used shirts are laid as structural bodies, bar tacks are made at points of stress, and a single embroidered line floats across the surface without connecting to either. A language of domestic maintenance and repair from different eras and different hands sits side-by-side.

Hemp, cotton, silk.
